Accommodation

St Stephen’s House is situated in the bustling community of East Oxford, a stone’s throw from Cowley Road. Our former monastic site has a tranquil atmosphere with comfortable modern amenities. We aim to provide an environment which is happy and civilised, with a balance between a quiet work environment and a friendly, sociable, supportive community; a place where study and our life together are taken seriously.

Resident students are welcome to access House’s library facilities which are open 24/7. As a community of mature students, the college is a natural and conducive place for graduate study.

For those who wish it, a seat in the chapel will be reserved for you on request. Details about other places of worship in the city can be found here.
On the lower ground floor of the house is the Student Laundry. It comes equipped with two washing machines, two tumble dryers, irons, ironing boards, and clothing airers. The machines accept contactless card payments for each cycle. You will need to provide your detergent.

There are also large communal gardens with a brick-built barbecue, picnic benches and a lawn used as a play area for children. As well as on-site catering there is a small communal kitchen for use by residents.

Students also have the benefit of applying to be members of the common room. Supplied with newspapers and periodicals, both secular and church-related, there is a bar, open on Guest nights and Sunday lunchtimes during term-time.
